Department/Program Description:
Among the first departments established at Stanford University, the Department of Psychology has a long-standing tradition of ground-breaking theoretical research that also has powerful impact in the real world. The department is ranked as one of the top psychology programs in the nation and has been a leading psychology department among American universities for decades. This extraordinary achievement was honored by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. in 2003.
Position Summary:
The Computational Psychology and Well-Being Lab is seeking a research data analyst (RDA) to contribute to research projects that apply computational methods to study clinical psychology, health, and medicine with Professor Johannes Eichstaedt. The RDA will work on applications of natural language processing and machine learning methods, data visualization, and the refinement of a shared Python codebase. They will also participate in lab meetings of the Stanford CPWB lab. The position will require a very self-motivated and collaborative person who is capable of writing code, applying understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and quantitative research methods, defining and solving logical problems for technical applications, and working with large datasets. Must have the ability to work comfortably and effectively within an interdisciplinary research environment (e.g., working across psychology, public health, education, computer science). Past data analysts working in this role have earned co-authorship on top scientific publications and are now enrolled in top PhD programs. This recruitment is for a one (1) year fixed-term, 100% FTE benefits-eligible position which begins on the start date and may be renewable in the future based on funding availability.

CORE DUTIES:
●Collect, manage and clean datasets.
●Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
●Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.
●Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest possible solutions.
●Develop reports, charts, graphs and tables for use by investigators and for publication and presentation.
●Analyze data processes in documentation.
●Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.
●Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.
●Communicate with government officials, grant agencies and industry representatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
●Experience with R, Python (including Pandas and NumPy), SQL, Git, and Linux shell
●Basic knowledge of software engineering principles.
●Strong writing and analytical skills.
●Ability to prioritize workload.
●Knowledge of and ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.
●Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and/or operations procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
●Sitting in place at a computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
●Occasionally use a telephone.
●Rarely write by hand.

The expected pay range for this position is $80,148 to $99,773 per annum.
