Either Full or Part Time, more than 6 months Job Summary: As a Public Affairs Specialist in the Office of Communications in Portland, OR, you will manage key components of the communications program, develop strategies to convey the agency's message, and inform the public about the agency's programs and activities. Responsibilities: Manage internal and external communications for the Office of Communications Deputy State Director; serve as the spokesperson for the agency on certain issues. Assist with fire information, providing content for the agency's social media platforms and website. Communicate issues related to the implementation of range policy, resource management plans, and the National Fire Plan. Note:

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Promotion to the full performance level (GS-12) is neither guaranteed nor implied and will depend on your ability to perform satisfactorily, existing work at the higher grade, and supervisor recommendation. Requirements: Conditions of Employment and Qualifications: Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, provide a copy of your unofficial transcripts. Minimum Qualifications: For GS-09: Specialized Experience: 1 year of experience at GS-07 level performing tasks such as assisting with production of communication materials, writing public affairs content, planning, editing news articles, graphic design, web, journalism, photography, and communicating programs to communities. OR Education: Master’s degree or higher, or 2 years of graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B./J.D. if related. OR Combination of education and experience. For GS-11: Specialized Experience: 1 year of experience at GS-09 level performing tasks such as overseeing media arrangements, developing recommendations for public land activities, analyzing new media technology, and designing information programs.
