Playa Bowls is New Jersey's Original Acai Shop founded in 2014, and our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing a fantastic in-shop brand experience. What began as a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has flourished into a 300+ unit operator and franchisor of the leading fast casual restaurant concept. Playa Bowls added more than 70+ locations in 2024 and are on target to add as many 90 new locations in 2025. Who You Are
As a
Regional Marketing Manager
at Playa Bowls, you will play a crucial role in driving brand awareness, increasing guest engagement, and supporting our franchise and company-owned shop locations. You will be responsible for developing local marketing strategies, creating and managing local marketing initiatives, and ensuring brand consistency across all locations. This Manager will collaborate with Franchise Owners and Company personnel on leveraging our loyalty program, online delivery channels, social media platforms and community engagement activities to outsmart competitors and drive profitable sales growth across our rapidly growing açaí bowl restaurant business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute local marketing strategies that align with national priorities while addressing unique market-level and shop-level needs. Create and implement impactful marketing plans for designated shops and markets in collaboration with the corporate marketing team, ensuring alignment with overarching brand strategy. Collaborate closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and team to drive a local digital first mindset, leveraging perpetually evolving digital marketing tools to drive targeted awareness and transactions at shop and off-premise. Partner with franchise owners to drive localized engagement efforts, including community events, partnerships, and in-shop promotions that increase guest traffic and unique affinity for Playa. Collaborate with the New Shop Opening Manager(s) to tailor marketing approaches based on an enhanced NSO Playbook, reflecting the market/shop lifecycle (e.g., new openings, high growth and emerging markets, and new market expansion). Ensure brand consistency across all local marketing channels and in-shop experiences, adhering strictly to Playa Bowls’ brand guidelines. Track and analyze campaign performance using marketing analytics tools and data sources (e.g., Bikky CDP, the loyalty platform, foot traffic, and radius analysis) to optimize future initiatives. Oversee local marketing budgets, including the mandated 1% of sales LSM investment, and ensure franchise owner compliance and effective fund allocation. Train and support franchisees on marketing fundamentals, social media management, brand standards, and execution of local marketing initiatives. Maintain strong local and regional insights to inform and share best practices in campaign targeting, promotional planning, and calendar amplification. Leverage social media platforms to amplify local activity, support shop-level content creation, and encourage guest engagement. Utilize tools like Canva to create or customize marketing assets that reflect the brand while meeting local needs. Market Intelligence Gathering: Regularly collect and share insights on competitive activity, local consumer behavior, and emerging market trends with the broader marketing and operations teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a connector between marketing, operations, and franchise operations consultants to ensure cohesive execution of brand and sales-driving initiatives. Local Reporting: Provide regular updates and recaps on shop/market performance, franchisee engagement, and local execution to the marketing leadership team. Vendor Coordination: Where needed, work with local print shops, media outlets, and event partners to assist with executing campaigns effectively.
Ideal Experience & Skills
3–5 years of hands-on experience in local marketing, franchise marketing, or related roles— preferably within the restaurant, QSR, or retail industries—with a proven track record of executing local campaigns that drive sales and traffic. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, timelines, and stakeholders across different markets. Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, with a talent for partnering effectively with franchisees, cross-functional teams, and local community partners. Deep understanding of evolving local marketing tactics, including digital and grassroots strategies, social media execution, event marketing, and community engagement. Self-starter with a proactive mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with limited oversight. Proficient in core productivity tools, including Gmail, Excel, PowerPoint (or Google Suite equivalents), with working knowledge of marketing platforms like Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, social media, SMS, and email marketing tools. Strong brand ambassador instincts, with a passion for representing and growing a lifestyle brand at the local level.
WORK CONDITIONS
Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed or required, to support local marketing events, new shop openings, and franchise owner collaboration; otherwise, work is completed in a remote setting Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings Must be 21 years of ageto comply with state age travel requirements
Essential Physical Functions
Ability to work at a desk and use a computer for extended periods Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 6-8 hours) Occasionally required to life and transport marketing materials or event supplies up to 15 pounds Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working on a laptop or attending meeting in an office or remote setting Ability to adapt to environmental conditions, including weather exposure during outdoor events Ability to set up and break down field marketing displays, booths, signage, and promotional materials in various indoor and outdoor settings Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a fast-paced environment Must be able to retrieve items from high and low shelving, the fridge/freezer, and under counters.
