Job Family ADMIN - Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) Grade 16 Salary $71,171 - $88,963 Department Office of the College President Reports To Senior Vice President Closing Date December 06, 2025 FLSA Status Exempt - Not Eligible For Overtime Compensation First Review Date August 22, 2025Position Overview The Communications and Engagement Manager is responsible for articulating and amplifying the strategic priorities of Miami Dade College through the platform of the Office of the College President. The position elevates the voice of the College President and provides direct support during internal and external engagements to ensure that the mission and work of Miami Dade College are elevated and communicated effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustee. What you will be doing • Drafts speeches, op-eds, letters, and official statements on behalf of the College President • Develops and maintains a consistent tone and messaging strategy that reflects the College President’s voice and institutional priorities • Ensures the College President’s remarks are accurately reflected in institutional publications, reports, and digital content as well as media outlets • Manages the College President’s social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement • Coordinates with the Office of Communications, as needed, to ensure timely photo and video coverage of presidential events • Supports the College President at internal and external events, providing briefing materials, talking points, and on-site support • Serves as liaison between the Office of the College President and event organizers to ensure alignment of messaging and logistics • Leads the drafting and production of the College President’s Annual Report and any other presidential report • Writes the President’s Report for Board of Trustees meetings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with strategic goals • Works closely with the Office of Communications to align presidential messaging with broader institutional campaigns • Coordinates with academic and administrative departments to gather content and context for presidential communications • Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed • Master’s degree, in Journalism, Public Administration, Communications, or Business Administration, with a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience; or Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years experience. Experience should include a record of success in broad-based communications program operations, including evidence of strong management and planning capabilities with public, government or corporate institutions. • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures • Proficient in public policy concepts, principles, methodology, and techniques • Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging federal, state, and local public policy issues and trends applicable to educational institutions • Maintains up to date information regarding current events and trends in higher education • Demonstrates strong research interpretation, analytical, writing, and communication skills • Experience using social media management platforms and project management tools • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office and database applications • Ability to consistently demonstrate poise, sophistication, and a politically savvy demeanor • Ability to multi-task • Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment • Ability to work flexible hours that can include weekends and evenings • Ability to travel to various campus locations as needed • Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff

Essential Position

This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
