Summary Description
Under direction, manages the operations of the school's main offices and its staff. Ensures that school office and related administrative activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures, makes decisions involving office routine and procedures, performs fiscal support and management including, assisting with grant management, processing payroll, and other fiscal responsibilities. Leads and trains other school clerical staff. Answers phones and serves in the front office as greeter, primary point of contact for parents, staff and other visitors for all school-related matters and community use of school buildings. Responsible for collecting funds and facilitating arrangements for field trips, ordering and receiving, assisting with security matters and student behavior. Provides support to the principal's administrative duties, including first-line response, scheduling and correspondence, reviewing all outgoing correspondence for format, spelling, punctuation, and grammar before submitting for assigned administrator's signature. Supports processes related to special education services. Provides support and oversees staff in remote locations for alternative programs. Responsible for interacting with all aspects of the school community and the school system. Physical Demands: Position typically requires sustained operation of keyboard devices. Knowledge Skills Abilities
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; office management; standard records procedures; business English; and computer proficiency to include multiple word processing, spreadsheet, and financial record systems. Ability to stay organized and manage funds, perform banking, accounting or bookkeeping duties. Math skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, independently, and proactively; meet deadlines; maintain confidential and important operating records and prepare reports from such records; compose letters and other correspondence; interacts effectively and courteously with the school community; and exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting school policies and procedures. Demonstrates commitment to students; high degree of professionalism; excellent problem-solving skills, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills with minimal supervision. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education Training Experience
High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience in a secretary or clerical role, three of which shall have been performing clerical work in a school setting. Experience in accounting, finance, banking or related field. Management experience preferred. Training in personal computing sufficient to perform complex word processing tasks and to possess a working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:None #J-18808-Ljbffr
