Senior Software Development Engineer

Bethesda, MD . The role involves supporting NSWC Carderock with engineering, IT, and technical support for data analysis, software development, control systems, and IT infrastructure across various projects involving ships, submarines, vehicles, and simulators.
The engineer will research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and software, including systems that control computers and related equipment. Responsibilities include developing new software systems, incorporating new technologies, and applying principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematics to software design, testing, and evaluation.
Key duties involve software development, IT system administration, and integration with databases using SQL, scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, and C++, and full lifecycle software development.
Position Details:
Type: Full-Time
Salary: $137,890 - $218,190 annually, depending on experience
Location: Onsite in Bethesda, MD
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software/IT, Engineering, or Mathematics
CWF Certification IAT level II (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
Desired Experience:
20+ years in programming and software development related to ship design, modeling, and simulation
5+ years in C++, Object-oriented programming, graphics programming (OpenGL/DirectX), GUI design, parallel architectures, and NURBS/BREP topologies
Active Secret clearance
