ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Test Pilot, you will be responsible for building the core functions of the flight test program. Your duties include preparing MightyFly’s experimental UAV aircraft for flight, conducting flight tests as Pilot in Command, planning missions, logging flights, and debriefing the team. You will brief crew members, maintain flight safety, and collaborate on concepts of operations, coordinate with airport officials, and support our first pilot launch. There may also be opportunities to work with our engineering and build team on design input and construction of airframes and subsystems. This position involves field work primarily at a small airport near Tracy, California, with flights conducted across the United States. You should be prepared for early mornings and challenging weather conditions, but find the work rewarding and exciting. WHAT YOU’LL DO Perform test flights as pilot in command for BVLOS and VLOS operations Plan and execute mission flight tests, including briefings and safety reviews Inspect UAVs before and after flights Maintain the test site facility Test UI interfaces and simulate real-life conditions and failures for the software team Familiarize with aircraft performance via simulation Create concepts of operations and training manuals with the team Conduct ground testing and analyze results Assist in building the aircraft Support the launch of our pilot program Assist with FAA documentation and aircraft maintenance WHAT YOU’LL BRING Technical Current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Experience flying large UAVs or VTOL aircraft (>55 lbs) Part 107 Certification Proficiency with computers and hardware/software Comfort with trailers, towing, and basic vehicle maintenance General Drive to build systems from scratch Interest in solving complex problems Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail Planning & Partnering Ability to plan and deliver projects on time Strong organizational skills Leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills Nice to have Knowledge of aviation certification standards Military UAV piloting experience Flight instruction background Experience with electric and combustion engine aircraft Routine GA maintenance skills 1+ year RC model aircraft flying experience WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW MightyFly can sponsor TN visas and H1B transfers for this role.
