ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Test Pilot, you will be responsible for building the core functions of the flight test program. Your duties include preparing MightyFly's experimental UAV aircraft for flight, conducting flight tests as Pilot in Command, planning missions, logging flights, and debriefing the team. You will also brief crew members, maintain flight safety, collaborate on concepts of operations, coordinate with airport officials, conduct readiness assessments, and support our first pilot launch. Opportunities may also arise to work with engineering and build teams on design input and airframe construction. This role primarily involves fieldwork away from the office at a small airport near Tracy, California, with testing across the United States. Flights often require early mornings and work in challenging weather conditions, offering a rewarding experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO Perform test flights as Pilot in Command for BVLOS and VLOS operations Plan and execute flight test activities, including briefings and safety reviews Inspect UAVs before and after flights Maintain the test site facility Test UI interfaces and simulate real-life conditions for software feedback Familiarize with aircraft performance via simulation Create concepts of operations and training manuals Conduct ground testing with a multidisciplinary team Contribute to aircraft build and support pilot program launch Assist with FAA documentation and aircraft maintenance WHAT YOU'LL BRING Technical Current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Experience flying large UAVs or VTOL aircraft (>55 lbs) Part 107 Certification Proficiency with computers and hardware/software Comfort with trailers, towing, and basic vehicle maintenance General Drive to build systems from scratch Interest in solving complex problems Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail Planning & Partnering Ability to plan and deliver projects on time Organizational skills Leadership and cross-functional collaboration Nice to Have Knowledge of aviation certification standards Military UAV piloting experience Flight instruction background Experience with electric and combustion aircraft Routine GA maintenance skills 1+ year RC model flying experience WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW MightyFly can sponsor TN visas and H1B transfers only at this time.
