Position Summary The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor/Program Director is responsible for leveraging their expertise to develop, maintain, and deliver education services to students through creating and maintaining core curriculum, ensuring delivery of core curriculum, preparing course plans and material, supervising staff, and oversight of the Program. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor/Program Director will monitor and manage student progress and attendance, student advising, and grade reporting. The Instructor/Program Director will also ensure continued compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional accreditation agencies. The DMS Instructor/Program Director will adhere to the guidelines as specified by the Lawson State Community College Policy and Procedures Manual, the President of the college, the Vice President of Instruction, and the Board of Trustees for the Alabama Community College System in addition to the Commission on Accreditation of Health Programs.

Salary Schedule Placement: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule D1 IB-IV ($42,108- $94,363) based on education and experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment- Salary Schedule D1 ($13,001 - $29,184) based on education and experience. Annual Potential Salary including Summer Appointment ($55,109- $123,547)Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve in a supervisory capacity by managing administrative details of the program and courses in compliance with Alabama Community College System and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education ProgramsPrepare class schedule for each semesterPlan and teach classes in DMS, simulated laboratory and clinical in accordance with approved course outlines and program of studyPlan clinical rotation schedulesSecure new clinical sites with clinical affiliate agreementsAdvise students academicallyCounsel and/or conference with students as necessaryMaintain accurate student recordsMaintain licensure and credentialsServe on department, divisional and institutional teams or committeesCollaborate with teaching teams in curriculum development, syllabi review, textbook selection, classroom and clinical instructionAccept teaching assignments which may include day, evening and weekend classes and off-campus sites.Achieve and maintain program certification/accreditation by adhering to a systematic plan of evaluation.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to complete professional development or teaching assignments.The DMS Instructor/Program Director will be expect to work a flexible schedule which may include working difference program assignment courses, and campuses, weekend, days, and evening hours. QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree of equivalents (Master’s degree in DMS preferred) Minimum of two year of full-time time experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field (Cardiac)

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:
