Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a
Principal Quality Engineer (Level 3)
to join our BWI team as an AIMS Quality Engineer.
What You'll Get To Do:
Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducting quality assurance tests; and performing statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Work with Engineering test sets and ensure proper Quality standards are in place to process hardware.
Collaborate with Engineering team for engineering development.
Develop corrective action plans for software and hardware processing through plant.
Investigate failures internally to identify root cause on flight hardware.
Work with technicians to develop root cause findings on flight hardware.
Have the ability to implement Kaizen strategies to reduce defect count on manufacturing floor.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering +5 years of relevant experience; Masters Degree + 3 years of experience
Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering Process
Experience investigating failures and identifying root causes
Must be able to read engineering documentation and inspect to drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions
Experience in Quality Assurance or relevant experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-mechanical field of work performing technical job function
Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated success working individually and as part of a team
Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience
Understanding of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 standards, audit experience
SAP Experience
Certified in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies
SQL experience
DoD Clearance
Salary Range:
$93,000 - $139,600
Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
