Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support procurement activities within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services that meet quality, cost, and regulatory standards. The Buyer will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to support production schedules, mitigate supply chain risks, and ensure continuity of supply.
Key Responsibilities: Procurement and Sourcing: Source and procure components, raw materials, and services in support of production and development needs. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable purchasing. Identify new suppliers to meet business needs and maintain competitive advantage.
Supplier Management: Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as quality, cost, delivery, and compliance. Foster strong supplier relationships and address supply issues in a timely manner. Conduct periodic supplier assessments and performance reviews.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure purchasing processes align with applicable industry regulations and quality standards. Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and certifications. Collaborate with the quality team to resolve supplier-related non-conformances.
Risk and Cost Management: Identify and assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies. Implement purchasing strategies that reduce costs while maintaining required quality levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with departments such as Finance, R&D, Engineering, and Quality to support business objectives. Participate in cross-functional teams for new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Involvement: Attend project meetings to provide procurement input and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies. Execute risk mitigation and sourcing projects as assigned.
Key Interactions: Frequent collaboration with internal teams across multiple departments. Regular interaction with suppliers and external partners to ensure alignment and performance.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment. Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA) is a plus. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with AS400 or similar systems is advantageous. Analytical mindset with the ability to assess supplier performance and forecast demand. Self-motivated and eager to learn.
