What you'll do
About Team Last Mile Delivery: Our team gathers information about customer needs and applies our technological expertise and strategic thinking to create a product roadmap. The product journey is designed to leverage technological excellence to drive customer satisfaction. Walmart's philosophy of Everyday Low Prices is not an easy one to achieve. Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We deliver affordability and customized experiences across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites. As a Software Engineer III, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing scalable backend systems and services that power Walmart’s digital experiences. You will work on complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. What You'll Do: Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services and APIs for Walmart’s tools and platforms. Build and maintain microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and RESTful APIs. Develop and optimize data models and queries for relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Cassandra). Implement caching strategies using Redis or Memcached to improve performance and scalability. Build and manage asynchronous messaging systems using Kafka and RabbitMQ. Integrate with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS) for scalable deployments and infrastructure services. Apply containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes. Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using tools like Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, and Elastic Stack. Ensure code quality and security using SonarQube, static code analysis, and secure coding practices. Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and code reviews. Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams for seamless integration and delivery. What You'll Bring: Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for backend development. Experience with Python for scripting and automation. Deep understanding of RESTful API design and development. Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficiency in messaging systems like Kafka and RabbitMQ. Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP a plus). Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). Strong knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and design patterns. Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, ELK). Familiarity with Git, JIRA, Postman, Mockito, and JUnit.
