Description Central Valley is a leading family-owned and operated building supply company with eight locations throughout Northern California. Central Valley has been voted among the Best Places to work in the North Bay by the North Bay Business Journal. We are currently seeking a Store Manager to work in our Napa facility. SUMMARY: The Store Manager ensures a best-in-class shopping experience for all Central Valley and/or Foster Lumber customers through/by; a safe, clean, well merchandised, and properly staffed environment. Hires and engages employees while at the same time coaching performance and company behaviors. Holds themselves and their teams accountable for company guidelines, policies, and procedures. Responsible for the financial performance of the location. Our Store Managers work days only, giving them evenings off to support work-life balance. Requirements: 5+ years retail management experience required. 5+ years managing others required. Understands the workings of the locations Income Statement. Proven results with regards to planning and execution. Problem solving abilities Strong communication skills (oral and written) Duties & Responsibilities: Identifies opportunities and recommends solutions to improve facility performance. Partners with other managers at facility to lead overall store growth and drive employee engagement. Collaborates with other departments to meet company initiates and/or shared goals. Models safe behavior, holds others accountable, attends all safety meetings, and contributes to safety committee activities. Models Brand Behaviors consistently. Drives Sales Performance: Sets monthly sales goals with teams and conducts weekly follow up on progress and activities. Set annual, monthly, and weekly sales goals. Develop tracking and reporting measures along with the vehicle to communicate the results i.e. one on one meetings, email notifications, department meetings, newsletters, etc. Create and sustain a sales culture – competitive, transparent, focused on results, merit-based, relationship driven, well-educated and well trained. Ensures that a sales process is in place and that all sales professionals adhere to that process. Provides product observations and recommends ideas to the Merchandising Team (e.g., pricing, new products, services, items to be discontinued, etc.). Maintains current, in depth knowledge of the Company’s store products and their applications. Produces timely, accurate sales reports and other reports to drive sales performance. Responds to customer inquiries and needs promptly. Manages Others: Meet quarterly with hourly employees to review their performance against the job description. Coaches employee performance to ensure superior customer service and product knowledge. Addresses employee concerns related to the work environment and performance escalating to leadership as appropriate. Ensures employees attend product training meetings and are cross trained where appropriate Partners with Human Resources for employee needs (e.g., hiring, pay changes, employee discipline, terminations, etc.) Operational Results: Participates in budgeting, forecasting and manages productivity metrics for wages against sales and expenses to meet budget. Maintains procedures (e.g., cash handling, special orders, inventory turns, theft, ordering, receiving, price changes, overrides, etc.). Ensures work schedules are completed and communicated to maximize labor based on projected sales for facility. Partners with the Operations Manager on receipt of materials and placement on floor to meet sales targets and Merchandising expectations. Partners with Inventory Control to manage shrink, in-stock, inventory turns. Responsible for opening and closing of the facility. Ensures store is clean, property merchandised, and safe. Observes store for potential theft and security risks. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Other Experience Desired: Bachelor of Arts degree Bilingual in Spanish & English Industry (construction or agriculture) experience 1 year managing facility safety programs Central Valley is an equal opportunity employer.
