The Congregation of the Humility of Mary (CHM) is seeking a dedicated Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and enhance the day-to-day operations of our nonprofit organization, ensuring alignment with our mission, values, and legacy. This role is ideal for a compassionate, strategic, and results-oriented leader with a heart for service and a strong background in nonprofit operations.

About the Role:

As COO you will be accountable for the direction and oversight of all corporate operations, which include: administrative staff, business support, management information systems, day-to-day facility operations, and Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat operations, safeguarding the mission, values and legacy of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary (CHM)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: The COO manages day-to-day operations, ensuring programs, services, and internal processes run efficiently and align with the nonprofit’s mission.
  • Strategic Implementation: Translates the nonprofit’s strategic goals into actionable plans, coordinating departments to meet objectives and improve impact.
  • Staff and Team Leadership: Oversees staff management, hiring, and performance to build strong teams and ensure organizational effectiveness.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Works closely with the CFO or finance team to manage budgets, optimize resource allocation, and maintain financial health.
  • Process and Systems Improvement: Identifies and implements systems and workflows that increase efficiency, scalability, and accountability.
  • Inclusive Work Environment Protection: Ensures that all work contributes to the achievement of AA/EEO goals, the development of a pluralistic organization, and the practice of nondiscriminatory behavior in all internal and external relationships

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working at a leadership level in the non-profit sector
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems at a functional and strategic level
  • Ability to lead people and achieve the corporation’s success through managing others
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in establishing goals and prioritizing and completing projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
