The Accounts Receivable Specialist manages the receivables process, including cash application and discrepancy resolution. The role supports the Manager and other accounting functions with an emphasis on customer service, research, analysis, and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Pull credit reports for potential new customers.
- Contact customers regarding account issues and follow up with corrective measures.
- Prepare account reconciliations as needed.
- Post customer payments daily, ensuring accuracy and addressing any issues through cash application and communication.
- Prepare daily bank deposit slips and report transfer amounts to the Finance Department.
- Make collection calls for delinquent invoices.
- Process Accounts Receivable adjustments and related transactions.
- Handle bankcard payments and apply them through cash application.
- Release orders on hold based on departmental criteria.
- Generate reports on unapplied cash, open credit memos, and service charges monthly; review and adjust with the Manager.
- Perform other duties and training as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience applying cash regularly.
- At least two years of Accounts Receivable or related experience.
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn First Supply's business system.
- Ten-key data entry proficiency.
- Excel experience is a plus.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail.
- Fluent in English (reading, speaking, understanding, writing).
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
