This position serves the departments of Geoscience and Military Science, and is responsible for a variety of general administrative and secretarial duties. This position will reside in the department of Geoscience but at least 20% of this position will be spent performing duties for Military Science. Essential Job Duties

Responsible for office correspondence including answering and responding to phone calls, voicemails, emails, memos, letters, and greeting office visitors; Build, maintain, and update schedule of classes - includes working with the chair to schedule classes considering faculty loads, classroom availability, course sequence, and coordination with catalog; Create and maintain course workload sheets for faculty, including processing of EPAF forms; Generate and maintain spreadsheets for departmental FTE and CHP sheet; Generate paper and electronic forms related to faculty workload sheets, overload, independent study, and release times; Generate and post faculty office hours for each term; Generate other forms which include: faculty summer budget needs, faculty credentials checklists, faculty evaluations, undergraduate/graduate curriculum change proposals; Coordinate faculty travel (airfare and hotel accommodations), both domestic and international; Ensure proper preparation of reimbursement forms for faculty travel, departmental expenses, and budget transfers; Maintain records of expenses of departmental accounts; Order textbooks for classroom use, request review textbooks from publishers, and order books for the library; Release student academic holds, register students, and permit students that require permission from the departments; Generate postings, requests to hire, and supervise/approve time for student worker positions; Manage departmental and other applicable (grant) budgets; Update undergraduate and graduate catalog; Maintain office files, and files for majors in the departments; Create and update departmental brochures, handouts, promotion materials, and media; Communicate information to faculty and students in a timely manner; Create and maintain checksheets for all majors as needed; Record minutes at the faculty meetings; Assign students to department advisor; Receive, sort, and disperse mail; Initiate online office supply orders, assist with maintenance of the building's copy machines, and ordering supplies for same; Place purchase orders for supplies/equipment and track for receivables; Report all maintenance issues; Request payment for scholarships awarded; Serve as liaison with various vendors; Assist department chair with and serve as liaison for UNA Geoscience Alumni Association (UNAGAA); Assist in execution of Annual Alumni Conference, including registration and relevant conference orders and payments; Expedite payments for all departmental activities; Oversee ScreenCloud TV application; Assist with upkeep of department social media; Perform all other duties as assigned. The basic life coverage level is 1.5 times the covered employee's annual base salary with a maximum benefit of $400,000. The provider for this coverage is As a member of the , eligible employees have life benefits available through the TRS. Retirement Plans

The is a defined benefit plan in which participation is mandatory for eligible employees. Eligible employees are categorized by the TRS as Tier I or Tier II members.

Paid Time Off - Annual leave is accrued for each hour worked. During the first 2 years of employment, the accrual is 10 workdays.
