Our Specialty Products Division is hiring an Underwriting Consultant! We are specifically seeking candidates experienced with dental and vision products and pricing. This role will work closely with actuaries and other underwriters to ensure appropriate pricing strategies and underwriting guidelines are applied to DentalBlue and VisionBlue quotes, with special attention to major accounts. This role will provide support for RFP's and serve as a subject matter expert on relevant projects that assist in the development, sales, and marketing of DentalBlue and VisionBlue products. Collecting information, contacting sales, account managers, agents, and other parties as appropriate to clarify and correct inconsistent, incorrect or missing group health application information. Perform risk appraisals to include analyzing group experience and enrollment for group health insurance prospect and renewals and associated underwriting documentation for large, complex, or high risk groups; evaluating and classifying group risk to determine acceptability, coverage and pricing. Calculating and negotiating rates and premium charges for group health insurance using approved formulas and tables Corresponding with sales, account managers, agents, and other parties regarding group health insurance products, features, and pricing. This effort could involve face to face contact with the parties mentioned above. Assisting the on-going maintenance and enforcement of underwriting guidelines as well as providing underwriting expertise to projects in support of sales, marketing, membership and billing, legal or actuarial organizations. Designing risk profile for group insurance products; training and consulting with less experienced underwriters on the processes of risk identification and classification. Job Qualifications
Education Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting or related field. Experience 8 Years - Stop Loss UWg, Financial UWg, Actuarial, or Fin. Mgmt. experienced. Skills/Certifications Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Advanced analytical, planning, interpersonal, organizational and research skills with the ability to handle multiple projects Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or function in a team environment sharing responsibility, roles and accountability. Advanced negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, products, networks, underwriting, billing, claims processing, and broker distribution system.
