Clinical Laboratory Specialist
The Pathology Department is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Specialist who will oversee and conduct a variety of complex tests and lead in the development of new assays and techniques. The Clinical Laboratory Specialist will work with Pathologists and others to perform tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Perform assay development. Apply subject matter expertise and knowledge to execute tests and analyze results. Teach learners assigned to the lab, e.g. residents and clinical research fellows Lead and/or participate in laboratory projects Exercise independence in reviewing, understanding, and applying information found in literature in consultation with pathologists. Collaborate with technologists performing newly developed tests clinically May contribute to presentations at national conferences and publications. Perform other related duties as assigned. Technical Skills and Expected Level of Proficiency Assay Development and Validation - Developing Data Management and Analysis - Developing Laboratory Troubleshooting and Technical Problem Solving - Developing Literature Review - Developing Oral and Written Communication - Developing Scientific Interpretation and Consulting - Developing Stakeholder Engagement - Developing Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field. Five years' experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Classified Title: Clinical Laboratory Specialist Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MD Starting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($70,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.) Employee group: Full Time Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Hybrid/School of Medicine Campus Department name: SOM Pat Molecular Diagnostics Lab Personnel area: School of Medicine
