and we must be brave enough to make changes. The Finance Director is responsible for the financial strategy and health of Share. By combining strategic and operational goals, the Finance Director manages the accounting and economic aspects of Share by enforcing a financial strategy aimed toward sustainability and response to community needs via developing meaningful budgets and accurate financial reports, overseeing accounting and IT functions, ensuring financial compliance and assisting with risk management. Summary of essential job functions and responsibilities: Direct and monitor all financial activity of the organization Manage company cash reserves and cash flow Facilitates the preparation and implementation company-wide and program budgets Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger and additional accounting segments Prepare financial reports and analysis for presentation to finance committee, board of directors and management monthly Oversee all accounting work and set up internal and external audits to ensure the accuracy of information Oversee external financial and single audit and assist in preparation of annual 990. Prepare and/or review quarterly and annual business, payroll, tax, and benefit filing. Provide strategic financial planning advice to upper management for long-term growth Monitors and ensures strong internal financial controls Establish procedures and internal work processes for the finance department and monitor their progress. Evaluate systems and processes for efficiency and effectiveness, and lead projects for organization and department through change as needed. Analyze and interpret financial data and present the information with reports and presentations to the board of directors and executive director Manage revenue expenses and compliance with all external grants and contracts Assess company spending and work to reduce costs Manage the accounting department staff respectfully and provide direction, mentorship and training (communicating clear expectations, monitors job results compared to expectations, documents constructive coaching throughout the year and during the annual review process). Have a clear understanding of and adhere to current laws and regulations Assist in the formulation of budgetary and accounting policies, ensuring proper checks and balances as well as segregation of duties Review and approve and on occasion prepare expenses, journal entries, and invoices to funders. Oversee restricted funding and releases of restricted funds Oversee new, revised, and closed grants and contracts to ensure compliance. Support bi-weekly payroll processes. On occasion may be required to review and approve. Plan, direct, or coordinate compensation and employee benefits activities Establish relationship with 3rd party IT company and ensure IT systems meet organizations needs Ensure appropriate measures in place to prevent IT and financial fraud Prepare budgets for public and private grant submissions Partner with the Executive Director in insurance renewals and risk management Abilities required: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field Master's degree and/or CPA preferred 5+ years' experience in a senior finance position Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other business software, knowledge of Abilia MIP accounting software desired Ability to inspire and motivate staff while creating a respectful work environment fostering a strong team atmosphere. Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis Experience with modernizing accounting processes, change management, and implementing new processes and systems. Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long-standing business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; Maintains open and honest communication.
