Staker/Designer III
is a direct-hire role working in
Durango, CO
and focusing on field staking and design for overhead and underground electric distribution lines.
Key responsibilities of the Designer/Staker III include interpreting and applying specifications, performing technical calculations, reading staking sheets, and understanding joint-use make-ready processes. The role involves extensive fieldwork to gather GPS data, inventory equipment, and determine optimal routing for new or rebuilt lines. Collaboration with senior team members and direct client interaction are essential aspects of this position. The Designer/Staker III will lead and supervise Stakers/Designers I & II, assume management of a few projects, and help with direct relationships with clients as required. The candidate must be willing to work in both an office and field environment in most weather conditions. Travel to include overnight stays will likely be required and may be frequent at times.
Responsibilities: - Responsible for assisting in the design of medium voltage distribution lines and member service lines for a variety of electric utility clients. - Design projects include some field work, equipment inventory, and determining the best route for the new or rebuilt line. - Will often work with more senior employees in the field, acting as a design or staking assistant. - Assists in obtaining field measurements and prepares preliminary sketches. - Assists in the collection and analysis of data from reports, maps, drawings, product catalogs, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects. - Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects. - Prepares and checks design computations and quantity estimates. - Performs site visits or field assignments as required.
Qualifications: - BS in engineering, electrical or construction project management, or related field. - 3-5 years of electrical distribution design, staking, and/or line work experience. - Ability to work both outdoors and in an office environment. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively. - Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. - Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. - Candidate must be within daily commuting distance of Durango, CO, or willing to relocate.
The pay for this position will be in the $32-$42/hour range.
