Position Summary: The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in a metals manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring production equipment runs efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plant machinery including presses, conveyors, furnaces, shears, and rolling equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and execute timely repairs on equipment such as gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications. Install, align, and dismantle industrial equipment and production machinery. Fabricate machine parts or components using welding, grinding, or machining tools as needed. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support process improvements and equipment upgrades. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts inventory records. Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations in a heavy industrial environment. Participate in emergency response or off-shift maintenance support as required.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required, technical certificate or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanics, or related field preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting; metals industry experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission equipment. Basic welding and fabrication skills. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, hoists, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively. Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, PPE, and industrial safety protocols. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
