AIML - Sr Machine Learning Engineer - Data and ML Innovation

Seattle, Washington, United States - Machine Learning and AI Description

As a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer, you will be responsible for innovating and applying research in foundation models, focusing on audio data. Your work will encompass the entire ML pipeline, from pre-training on large-scale unlabeled audio datasets to evaluation and fine-tuning with task-specific data. The solutions you develop will impact Apple’s software and hardware products and the broader ML ecosystem. Your responsibilities include designing and developing a multi-modal data generation and curation framework for foundation models at Apple, building robust model evaluation pipelines, and analyzing multi-modal data to understand its influence on model behavior. You will also have opportunities to publish and present your research at academic venues. Specific applications of your work may include: Designing self-supervised and semi-supervised learning pipelines for tasks like speech recognition and speaker identification. Applying data selection techniques such as novelty detection and active learning across modalities to improve data efficiency. Modeling data distributions to uncover patterns and handle out-of-distribution challenges. Learning new methods rapidly and guiding product teams in ML solution selection. Minimum Qualifications

Deep technical expertise in ML areas such as computer vision, audio, NLP, deep learning, or related fields. Strong software development skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX. At least 5 years of experience in developing and evaluating ML applications, with a passion for improving model and data quality. Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of multi-modal foundation models. Knowledge of emerging trends in generative AI and multi-modal large language models. Ability to formulate ML problems, design experiments, implement solutions, and communicate effectively across teams. Publication record in relevant conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR). Experience applying ML to cross-disciplinary problems. Note: The salary range for this role is $139,500 to $258,100, depending on skills and experience. Apple offers comprehensive benefits, stock programs, and opportunities for educational reimbursement and bonuses. Apple is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
