Paraprofessional Reports to:
Principal/Head of School Paraprofessionals will assist teachers in providing an innovative, high-quality education program designed to meet the needs of students in Boston Public Schools. They will work with staff to create an environment where quality and continuity are prioritized. Responsibilities: Support direct instruction to children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings. Assist with classroom activities and prepare instructional materials. Help set up and clean up classrooms. Manage classroom and individual student behavior using prescribed approaches. Supervise students during field trips. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School/Principal. Qualifications - Required: High School Diploma or GED. 48 college credits or an Associate's Degree, or pass the ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate. At least two years of experience working with young children. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. by the start date. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree. Teacher certification or social worker license. Fluency in one of BPS's official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean or Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali. Terms: BTU, Paraprofessional hourly rate. Refer to the Salary section on the Career Site for details. School hours vary, with some schools operating under the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
