5+ years of direct engineering management with 10+ years of hands on experience in material, chemical, mechanical or similar engineering field. In-depth understanding of material structure and property/performance relationship. Strong background in characterizing and specifying materials and performance using design of experiments. New technology/material scoping and experience developing materials for mass production. Why Softgoods? The Apple Softgoods Engineering team works with textiles, non-wovens, leather, polyurethanes, silicone and other soft polymers. Our mission is to use these incredible materials to enable new product categories, and to enhance Apple’s existing product lines. Bringing Apple engineering and precision to products made of soft materials is an exciting challenge and requires a creative and open-minded approach. We have a talented team of people from a wide variety of backgrounds. We all work together in a customized lab where we design, engineer and develop the best Softgoods products in the world. What is the role? As an engineering manager, you will utilize your technical expertise to lead a multidisciplinary team. Together we will develop new material technologies for compelling Softgood products across Apple. You and your team will drive strategic next generation materials that meet performance, aesthetics and other product requirements in partnership with the product design and industrial design teams. In parallel, you will drive manufacturing process development and establish key material supplier relationships in collaboration with our manufacturing team. BS degree in Engineering required, MS or PhD preferred. Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $300,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
