The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the chief academic officer of SWOSU, providing leadership to promote and accomplish the university's mission. The VPAA oversees the development, coordination, and implementation of academic goals and educational policies. This role advocates for faculty and students, fosters a collegial atmosphere, encourages shared governance, academic freedom, and responsibility. The VPAA prepares budget recommendations, reports to the President, and is a member of the President’s executive team. They coordinate with vice presidents to lead and advise on all institutional aspects. Education and Experience
Requires an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution, with a strong academic background and senior-level experience in academic administration. Candidates should be competent in higher education regional accreditation, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate leadership abilities, and have experience in strategic planning, budget management, and performance oversight. A commitment to collegial governance and consensus-building is essential, along with the ability to develop innovative approaches to educational technology.
