Principal Quality Engineer
to join our team in
Baltimore, MD.
This position is 100% onsite. Primary Responsibilities: Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess costs and determine responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards.
Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
Processes complex non-conformances and Material Review dispositions from initiation through completion, collaborating with internal and external customers to ensure timely dispositions in support of production schedules.
May specialize in areas such as design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Helps facilitate process assessments to ensure optimal quality and efficiency.
Provides technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems; solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives.
Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.
Mentors and leads while working in a fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3 (Principal): 5+ years of experience in Engineering and/or Quality with a bachelor's degree; or 3+ years of experience in Engineering and/or Quality with a master's degree.
US citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working within Quality Management Systems, AS9100 preferred.
Experience initiating and processing discrepancies and corrective actions.
Experience in data mining and performing root cause analysis, including documentation and presentation.
Experience with advanced engineering and manufacturing processes, training, and application of lean principles.
Experience in ERP and MES systems, mechanical and non-destructive inspection techniques, and tools.
Experience with complex BOM's, composites, solar array, and boom manufacturing.
Experience with CDR, MRR, TRR processes.
Experience with digital manufacturing systems (MES), machining, Key Characteristics Control Planning, Gage R&R, MSA analysis, and continual improvement.
Salary Range:
$95,800 - $143,600 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
