Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible per VA policy
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification; includes ACGME, AOA, or other approved programs with verified practice
  • Enrolled residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and only appointed on an intermittent or fee basis
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Preferred experience: Board certification and experience in Primary Care and/or Women's Health
  • Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position; accommodations may be provided as needed

Duties

  • This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, or until all positions are filled; initial referral cut-off is April 15, 2025, with subsequent biweekly reviews
  • Provide comprehensive Women's Health and Primary Care to female Veterans, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team activities, quality improvement, and supervision of trainees
  • Order diagnostic tests, interpret findings, and make treatment decisions
  • Perform tasks as outlined in credentialing and privileging documents
  • Engage in research, performance improvement, and provide leadership and consultation within the team
  • Complete timely documentation and participate in educational activities
  • May be eligible for recruitment and relocation incentives
  • This position qualifies for the EDRP, with eligibility requirements and application process as specified; contact for assistance
