Accounting Specialist

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team in Rockford, Michigan. In this long-term contract role, you will play a critical part in managing financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and specialized financial tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing team in the metal fabrication industry while honing your accounting expertise. Responsibilities include: Processing vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with company policies. Maintaining vendor records and managing timely payments to avoid late fees or service interruptions. Reconciling accounts payable statements and addressing discrepancies directly with vendors. Preparing and issuing customer invoices, monitoring collections to ensure timely payments. Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining detailed records of all accounts receivable transactions. Communicating with customers to resolve payment discrepancies or billing inquiries. Assisting in preparing financial statements, reports, and necessary reconciliations. Contributing to month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting. Supporting special projects and finance-related tasks assigned by management. Ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while maintaining organized accounting records. Requirements: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting roles. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills for working with vendors, customers, and internal teams. Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations is a plus.
