POSITION PURPOSE
The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes managing virtual and physical server environments, ensuring the integrity and security of systems, supporting end users, and maintaining core IT services such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and storage platforms. The role ensures optimal system performance, uptime, and end-user satisfaction while aligning with organizational goals and industry's best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Administer and maintain on-premises and cloud-hosted Windows servers in VMware and AWS. 2. Help manage Active Directory, Group Policy, file shares, and print services. 3. Monitor system health, perform routine maintenance, and ensure availability and performance of IT services. 4. Support backup and disaster recovery processes; manage backup jobs, test restores, and report issues proactively. 5. Build, configure, and deploy Windows servers and virtual machines; manage system updates and patching. 6. Support Microsoft services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365 administration. 7. Collaborate with the Information Security team to ensure that security best practices are followed, including patch management, antivirus solutions, account management, and vulnerability remediation. 8. Maintain documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations; contribute to knowledge base and SOPs. 9. Support end-user computing environments (laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, VoIP phones). 10. Participate in IT projects including system upgrades, infrastructure migrations, and cloud transitions. 11. Ensure compliance with internal SLAs (98%+ ticket resolution within SLA timeframes). 12. Identify, document, and remediate system or network vulnerabilities and potential threats. 13. Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation, to perform maintenance tasks and provide after-hours support for critical incidents or planned system updates. 14. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred) • Industry-recognized certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, MCSA, VMware VCP, etc.) • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a system administration or infrastructure support role • Experience supporting enterprise-level IT environments, including on-prem and hybrid cloud infrastructure
TECHNICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Proficient with Windows Server OS (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy • Solid experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams administration • Working knowledge of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs) • Familiar with SAN/NAS storage administration and management • Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, SCCM) and patching processes • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and networking issues • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong documentation and technical writing ability • Demonstrated customer service orientation and professionalism
WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS : Standard office environment. Required: 5 days in-office (occasional remote work permitted during inclement weather or with prior approval). May require occasional evening/weekend work for maintenance, upgrades, or incident response. Must be able to lift and move IT equipment as needed (up to 40 lbs.)
