Job Description Job Description: Float Nurse (Emergency Department)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Float Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in various units, including the Emergency Department (ED) and ED Observation. This role demands a professional with a strong background in emergency nursing to ensure efficient and compassionate healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Delegate, supervise, and document care for patients and provide education to their families. - Effectively communicate critical patient and family information to the healthcare team. - Participate in problem-solving discussions to address variances from patient goals, ensuring the implementation of effective solutions. - Float to different units as needed, with staffing occurring every 4 hours, primarily focusing on the ED and ED Observation departments. - Maintain a typical patient ratio of a maximum of 1:6. - Work in a Level 3 trauma facility with diverse patient needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent and relevant experience in the Emergency Department. - Certifications: Current licensure by the state Board of Nursing, along with BLS and ACLS certification. NIHSS certification is also required. TNCC, ENPC, or PALS certification is preferred. - Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. - Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans, and proficient communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare personnel.
Schedule: - Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM - Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week - Contract Length: 102 weeks
