Corporate Counsel – FERC Transmission Rates

Our client, a large, multi-state investor-owned electric utility, is looking to build their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on transmission ratemaking issues and representing the company’s transmission business before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”). This position is based on-site in either Washington, DC or Akron, Ohio.

What you’ll do :

Handle legal matters involving federal public utility regulatory law with emphasis on FERC transmission ratemaking

Advise internal clients on regulatory accounting, formula rate design, transmission incentives, and tariff recovery

Conduct legal research and draft documents related to Administrative Procedure Act matters and appellate strategy

Collaborate closely with internal teams, consultants, and external counsel

Provide legal, strategic, and business advice to support FirstEnergy’s transmission utilities

What you will need :

J.D. from an accredited university

Member in good standing of at least one state bar

10–15 years of regulatory ratemaking / litigation experience; FERC experience strongly preferred

Strong understanding of Administrative Procedure Act and federal utility law

Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex legal matters
