Battery Test Engineer

Job Description Location: Tustin, CA Title: 3211 - Battery Test Engineer Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Battery Test and Validation Engineer. You will be responsible for conducting functional safety validation tests of battery packs. You will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of our battery systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software validation principles and testing methodologies applied to battery system development. Responsibilities: Perform functional safety testing of battery packs and vehicles at Rivian. Operate and maintain battery testing equipment (e.g., battery cyclers, environmental chambers, data acquisition systems). Analyze test data and prepare detailed reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Develop and implement new test methodologies and automation scripts to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with software and systems engineering teams to provide feedback on battery performance and identify improvement areas. Maintain accurate records of all test data, procedures, and reports. Follow all lab safety protocols and maintain a clean workspace. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, industrial technology, or a closely related field. At least 2 years of experience with batteries, Battery Management Systems (BMS), or HIL technologies. Knowledge of software and hardware validation testing. Experience with battery test equipment, LabVIEW, and data acquisition systems. Experience working with high-voltage systems. Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN-FD and CAN over Ethernet. Understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations. Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
