Contract-to-hire Our global EPC firm client is hiring an

Electrical Designer - Power

for a contract-to-hire opportunity in their Chicago, IL office. The Electrical Designer will assist on various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, report preparation, specifications, and the preparation of construction documentation and electrical plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. Responsibilities

Design electrical projects including creating schematics, grid layouts, power systems, lighting, protection, controls, and site and facility design, adhering to all standards. Develop drawings for production, including problem analysis, layout, and calculations for complex assignments. Execute electrical design assignments using prescribed methods, including drawing sequencing, sizing components, and refining sketches. Implement design changes, redlines, or mark-ups on ongoing projects. Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects. Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications. Review drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget, and schedule. Calculate volumes for conduit, grounding layouts, wiring diagrams, and relay schematics. Organize and maintain project revisions and related documentation systematically. Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in drafting technology or related field with 7 years of relevant experience, OR Associate’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, OR High School diploma with 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel, with the ability to learn new software. Advanced skills in 2D and 3D applications; experience with SmartPlant 3D preferred. Strong knowledge of design, calculations, and systems. Understanding of discipline-specific concepts and related software tools. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
