Contract-to-hire Our global EPC firm client is hiring an
Electrical Designer - Power
for a contract-to-hire opportunity in their Chicago, IL office. The Electrical Designer will assist in various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, proposal documents, report preparation, specifications, and construction documentation, including electrical plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. Design electrical projects, including schematics, grid layouts, power systems, lighting, protection, controls, and site/facility design, following all company, client, and project standards. Develop drawings for production, including problem analysis, layout, and calculations for complex assignments. Execute electrical design assignments using prescribed methods, including drawing sequencing, component sizing, and refining sketches. Implement changes to designs or sketches and redlines on ongoing projects. Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects. Interpret and incorporate relevant design codes and specifications. Review design drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget, and schedule. Calculate volumes for conduit, grounding, equipment, wiring diagrams, and relay schematics. Organize and maintain project drawings, revisions, and related documentation systematically. Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field with 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree with 8 years, or high school diploma with 9 years of progressive experience. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel; ability to learn new software. Experience with 2D and 3D applications, especially SmartPlant 3D. Strong knowledge of design, calculations, and systems. Understanding of discipline principles and related software. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design issues.
