This includes health and welfare plans, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other employee benefits. The role ensures that benefit programs support the company’s business objectives, are competitive, compliant with legal requirements, and effectively meet the needs of employees.

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Program Design: Develop and implement a comprehensive benefits strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives. Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Design and recommend new benefit programs or enhancements to current programs based on employee needs and market trends.

Benefits Administration:

Oversee the administration of all employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, leave administration, retirement plans, and wellness programs. Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all benefits-related transactions and records. Manage relationships with third-party vendors and negotiate contracts and services.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions. Prepare and file required regulatory reports and documentation. Oversee annual audits and non-discrimination testing of benefit plans.

Communication and Education:

Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure employees understand and value their benefits. Conduct employee meetings and presentations to provide information and answer questions about benefit programs. Create and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and ongoing education. Lead and mentor the benefits team, providing guidance, performance management, and professional development. Collaborate with other HR functions and departments to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to employee benefits and well-being.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze and report on the effectiveness of benefit programs, utilizing metrics and feedback to make data-driven decisions. Monitor benefit trends and provide recommendations for plan design changes based on competitive benchmarks and cost-effectiveness. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a Business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experience:

Minimum of seven (7) years’ related experience. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership role. In-depth knowledge of employee benefits, retirement plans, and relevant laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA , ACA , HIPAA ). Extensive knowledge of 403(b) and 457(b) plans. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team. Strong project management and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or institution.

Experience:

Ten or more years of progressively responsible benefits management experience. Five years experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist ( CEBS ), Professional in Human Resources ( PHR ), or Senior Professional in Human Resources ( SPHR ). Experience leading benefits strategy. Proven track record in vendor negotiations and contract management. Experience integrating wellness initiatives into overall benefits strategy. Immunization Immunization Requirements It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are encouraged to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment.
