Reporting to the Vice President for Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Associate Vice President for Finance/Controller (Controller) is responsible for organizing, directing, and evaluating a wide variety of financial activities including the planning and development of the university’s basic system of accounting and financial control. In this capacity, the Controller is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of the university’s financial management functions to include oversight of the daily financial operations in accounting, payroll, and accounts payable ensuring accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP and FASB). Qualities and Capabilities
The successful candidate will have: Bachelor’s Degree (required); CPA or master’s degree preferred At least eight years non-profit financial management experience, (higher education experience a plus) and five years of management experience required. In-depth knowledge of GAAP and FASB. Advanced computer skills necessary, including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with higher education ERP systems preferred, particularly Ellucian Colleague. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to multi-task under very tight deadlines.
