**Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)**
**Shift:** Night 4x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
**Job Description:**
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Mixed Acuity Unit, specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele). This role requires recent PCU or Intermediate Care experience (within the last 3 years) and strong competencies in managing patients with varying acuity levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare to patients in need of telemetry and post-operative care.
**Responsibilities:**
- Manage a diverse patient population including surgical pre and post-operative, ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, and overflow medical diagnoses.
- Conduct telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including insulin titration and blood product administration.
- Provide care for patients with complex needs, including renal failure, post-myocardial infarction (post MI), and neurological disorders.
- Perform essential nursing tasks such as starting IVs, Central line care, wound care, and tracheostomy management.
- Assure patient safety and adherence to isolation precautions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Float to corresponding sister units as needed based on patient care demands.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- A minimum of 1 year of recent PCU/IMC experience.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications; PALS preferred.
- Proficiency in IV management, telemetry monitoring, and critical care protocols.
- Ability to interpret ABGs and manage non-invasive airway devices.
- Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis systems for medication administration and patient documentation.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with TCAR and exposure to patients diagnosed with CVA, trauma, and substance withdrawal.
- Previous charge nurse experience is a plus.
**Patient Ratios:**
- Adjusted by acuity: 1: 3-5 during days and weekends; 1:3-6 for nights.
**Work Environment:**
- This position involves working in a dynamic healthcare facility with a daily census of approximately 24 patients and includes responsibilities for adolescents, adults, and occasional pediatric patients.
**Additional Requirements:**
- Candidates must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered.
- Float requirements to sister units, including West 2, West 3, and Observation unit, are part of the role.
