This role offers a mix of evening and night shifts with a schedule of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts each week, including every other weekend and select holidays. While primarily supporting our main radiology department, technologists will also dedicate about 15% of their time assisting the Neuro IR team with emergency proceduresa unique opportunity to gain specialized experience and broaden your imaging career! Responsibilities: Performs diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision. Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation. Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement to adjust protocols and shows initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic radiography purposes. Utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation and documentation of image data and completes procedures according to protocol. Maintains flexibility to work within different clinical areas to support the needs of the departments and/or business units to ensure that staffing is adequate to support services across the enterprise. Maintains assigned workflow patterns at site based on patient volumes and continually communicates with supervisors and/or managers. Works as team member within assigned departments to expedite patient care efficiently by demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills. Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills and a willingness to educate others in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and students. Qualifications: Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology. When rotating between two or more specialties, must hold registry in each specialty. Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion. ARRT certified in Radiography with a secondary Imaging Registry required. Must maintain 2 imaging registries/certifications and maintain competency in all as required by hiring Business Unit. NOTE: Diagnostic Tech's who rotate between Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology are required to have their primary registry in Radiology only and maintain competency in Interventional Radiology. Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any of the maintained registries by leadership. Must provide flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. If working in a NY facility, you must have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.
