Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic Assistant
To support the Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic by assisting the providers and/or team with patient care needs and treatment. To assist the APC team in the management of patients within the APC clinic. Responsible for providing the highest quality, comprehensive cancer care to our patients and referring physicians through the delivery of state-of-the-art clinical services, applied clinical research, and continued medical education. Essential Job Functions: Answers phones/voicemail(s), route calls to the appropriate nurse or physician. Schedule follow up appointments for patients within the APC, coordinate appointments for patients by prioritizing needs Document all patient phone interactions in the EHR Assist with APC EHR triage - obtain laboratory and imaging results, report findings to the appropriate physicians and patients. Navigating IOD and APC patient for appropriate care. Assist with coordination of central line placement/removal when needed and assist with coordinating dressing changes with other scheduled appointments. Draw labs and give injections as ordered by provider. Contact pharmacy for prescription refills or newly ordered medications Work side-by-side with patient navigator to ensure patients have access to appropriate funding for medications/treatments and are receiving their ordered prescriptions. Participate in APC educational opportunities as presented Performs other duties as assigned.
