Phlebotomy Technician
Collect and process blood specimens for testing, register patients and serve as a resource to phlebotomy team. Responsibilities include: Register patient information and order laboratory tests. Evaluate test request for method, time, patient preparation and proper collection procedures. Train new and current staff in the different areas of the department. Draw and collect blood samples according to policy. Verify all related records. Label, process and deliver specimens for testing according to protocol. Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment, instruments, and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures. Assist with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors. Assist with office duties such as OP orders, answering phone, faxing, and filing. Requirements include: BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred. Phlebotomy Tech preferred. High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. At least one year of phlebotomy experience is required.
