Faculty Job Description
The College of Science invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Geology in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences. The position will begin in the Spring 2026 semester. The areas of expertise for this position are geosystem modeling, data integration, Earth system dynamics and/or fields of bio geosciences. The successful candidate is also expected to: (1) demonstrate excellence in research and scholarship, both nationally and internationally; (2) teach undergraduate and graduate level Geology courses and laboratories in their field of expertise; (3) be an effective teacher and mentor to undergraduate students in geology; and (4) advise and supervise doctoral and master's students in the Coastal and Marine System Science and Environmental Science graduate programs within PENS. The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS) of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an interdisciplinary department that offers undergraduate degrees in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, and Physics. We also offer a PhD in Coastal and Marine System Sciences, and master's degrees in environmental science, Coastal and Marine System Science and Chemistry. With the physical sciences as our core, we seek to bridge academics and research through interdisciplinary collaboration that exists both in the classroom and in the field. We seek for our students at every level to grasp the real-life applicability of their research and its wide-spread impacts on environment and sustainability. Doctoral degree in a closely related discipline. A strong publication record in leading and high impact journals.
Associate Rank:
Doctoral Degree in a closely related discipline. A strong publication record in leading and high impact journals. Five (5) years of full-time university faculty experience including at least four (4) years in the rank of Assistant Professor. Related professional experience may substitute in rare cases.
