Hazardous Waste Technician

Your primary responsibilities will include gathering and storing hazardous waste adhering to all safety protocols and handling regulations. You will work independently and as part of a team on a wide variety of tasks. What You Will Do:
Gather and properly store hazardous wastes: Flammable Solids (A-Waste), RCRA Empty Containers (B-Waste), Chemical Waste (C-Waste). Identify used/unused chemicals utilizing established SDS database and other sources. Move full hazardous waste containers utilizing equipment to facilitate safe body mechanics. Utilize Powered Industrial Vehicles to move bulk waste containers. Complete monthly inspections of spill kits and replenish supplies. Maintain security on hazardous waste room and scrap parts bins. Assist Maintenance group with work orders. Ensure waste containers stay in compliance. Collaborate with the EH&S team on priorities and tasks. Manage shifting priorities remaining agile and willing to adjust as needed. Move full 55-gallon drum with the use of drum cart. Lift 25 lbs utilizing proper body mechanics. Handling of scrap containers. Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training). Qualifications We Prefer:
Previous hazardous waste technician. Experience reading labels, documents, and review logs accurately. Familiar with RCRA Haz-Waste storage regulations. Familiar with DOT regulations concerning containers and shipments. Able to identify, handle and store safely various chemicals. Experience with operating Powered Industrial Vehicles a plus. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
