Basic Function:
The Designer will participate in the design and development of mainline handbags and accessories for Baggallini. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in handbag design, builds accurate technical packages and CADs, is a very organized and detail oriented self-starter, and passionate about the development process. This position requires in-person attendance. The Designer will report directly into the VP of Design.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Creates silhouettes and detailed construction details in full scale for technical packages for factories using Illustrator. 2. Creates accurate Color CADs using Photoshop and Illustrator in order to inform specific details for sample requests throughout the development process-From First Insights testing to final comments for Production. CADs are also used as a tool for Marketing and Sales. 3. Communicates CAD updates to the PD Team located overseas. 4. Responsible for style creation in Exenta Design Master. 5. Assists the Vice President of Design with relaying information and tech pack updates for the PD Team located overseas throughout the development process. 6. Assists in the maintenance of seasonal Design Presentation Decks throughout the development process. 7. Assists with print artwork and manipulation-repeats, colorways, etc. as needed seasonally. 8. Conducts research in support of innovative design ideas and problem-solving solutions for the Baggallini consumer. 9. Attend and participate in all mainline Design meetings, proto reviews, and product presentations in person. 10. Participate in organization of seasonal samples, materials, storage, and general design studio upkeep. 11. Takes on exploratory design projects as needed.
Qualifications and Competencies:
1. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accessories, Fashion Design, or Industrial Design or related work equivalent/experience. 2. Requires 4-6 years of experience working in Handbag Design. 3. Prior experience in building technical packages for handbags and accessories is required. 4. Has experience working with overseas development teams and factories. 5. Must be highly proficient in PLM, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office applications. 6. Strong understanding of the full cycle design development process from sampling to production. 7. Needs to be highly organized, flexible, and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 8. Must have strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
*This role is Hybrid. You must be able to travel to the NYC office if/when needed.*
