Position Summary
Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell seeks a creative and detail-oriented Communications & Development manager to manage the organization’s communications strategy and support fundraising operations. This role is responsible for all external communications—including social media, newsletters, website, and collateral—and plays a key role in sharing the impact of our mission with donors, partners, and the broader community.
The Manager also supports fundraising operations, including maintaining the donor database, preparing donor acknowledgments and reports, assisting with grant research and documentation, and supporting the CEO with fundraising event logistics. The CEO is the primary fundraiser and strategic lead for major donor engagement; this position ensures the communications and development infrastructure is strong, consistent, and mission aligned.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
Lead the creation and implementation of a social media strategy to raise visibility and increase engagement.
Create compelling content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), including graphics, captions, and stories.
Write, design, and distribute quarterly e-newsletter and periodic email updates.
Maintain and update the organization’s website with fresh, timely, and mission-centered content.
Design and produce digital and print collateral such as flyers, brochures, annual reports, and event materials.
Support press releases and media outreach efforts in collaboration with the CEO.
Ensure consistent Girls Inc. branding and messaging across all channels.
Ensure organization-wide adherence to Girls Inc. branding standards by understanding and applying the guidelines across all communications, and by supporting staff in aligning materials with approved brand identity.
Development & Donor Stewardship
Maintain and manage the donor database, ensuring accurate and timely data entry for gifts, pledges, and donor records.
Generate reports, mailing lists, and segmentation for appeals and stewardship campaigns.
Prepare and send timely donor acknowledgments and tax receipts.
Assist in the preparation of impact and annual reports for donors and stakeholders.
Provide administrative and logistical support for donor cultivation and appreciation events.
Serve as liaison for third-party fundraisers and assist with materials and communications.
Grant Research & Support
Research prospective foundations, corporate sponsors, and funding opportunities.
Support the CEO and Grant Writer with preparation of grant applications by gathering program data, budgets, narrative content and supporting documentation.
Maintain a grant tracking calendar and ensure timely submission of documents.
Assist in tracking grant deliverables and gathering data for reporting.
Event & Community Engagement Support
Coordinate logistics for donors, the Board of Directors, and community engagement events.
Represent Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell at selected community events and tabling opportunities.
Support the Fundraising and Special Events Committee of the Board with preparation of materials and meeting coordination.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit communications, development, or administrative support.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing and storytelling abilities.
Experience managing social media and digital communications for an organization.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a sharp eye for accuracy and
consistency.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning new technology platforms.
Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential donor and organizational information.
Preferred:
Experience with donor management systems (Bloomerang strongly preferred).
Graphic design experience using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Wix).
Exposure to grant writing or providing grant-related administrative support.

Work Environment & Schedule
Standard weekday schedule with occasional evenings or weekends for events.
This is a fully in-person position at Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell office, fostering connection and teamwork with colleagues and the community we serve.
