Student Desk Assistant

Student Desk Assistants are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support at the front desks of North Lake Village, South Village, and West Lake Village. In this role, they assist residents, prospective students, parents, and other guests with a variety of inquiries and tasks. Student Desk Assistants are an integral part of the residential life staff at Florida Gulf Coast University by helping maintain a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring smooth and efficient desk operations. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Report directly to the Housing Specialist of their assigned area(s). Welcome residents and visitors in a timely and polite manner. Make referrals to appropriate resources when necessary. Perform assigned clerical duties (e.g. inventory key cards, complete package logs, record lockouts, etc.). Answer the phone and provide callers with appropriate information. Assist students with lockouts and complete all lockout records as per the established policies and procedures. Assist students with checking out gaming equipment and temporary ID cards. Process letter mail and packages in a timely and orderly fashion. Maintain confidentiality as it relates to student records, incidents, and resident interactions. Communicate necessary information to the Housing Specialist, AD of Desk Operations or their designee, and/or Resident Director/Residence Life Coordinator. Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Additional Job Description: Required Qualifications: Must be enrolled in at least one course at FGCU. Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.0. Must be in and maintain good conduct standing with the university. Must be able to work a minimum of three (3) shifts a week (9 hours total). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Familiar with basic computer software (Word, Excel, Google Docs, etc.). Understands the importance of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to keep tasks and materials organized. Ability to identify issues and find solutions. Have knowledge of FGCU and Housing policies and procedures. Ability to work weekends and nights.
