Job Summary

The Desk Assistant (DA) is the primary contact with residents at the front desk in the Residence Halls. Desk Assistants work assigned hours each week as a point of contact and assistance for current residents, their guests, and visitors to Missouri Western front desk.

Essential Duties

The primary responsibility includes but are not limited to: Answering questions and serving as a resource for residents and guests regarding the residence halls. Connecting residents to correct resources as needed (e.g. connecting students to reach out to their Residence Life Coordinator, Resident Assistant, Residential Life Contracts Office, Business Office, Financial Aid, Career Development, etc.) Assisting residents with getting proper forms that may be needed for a specific request and making sure those are given to the appropriate party. (e.g. Contract Cancellation Form, Room Change Request, Vacation Housing form, etc.) Checking out equipment to students that may request specific items available at the front desks (e.g.) brooms, dust pans, games, movies, sports equipment, etc. The potential to accept deliveries and sort mail. Being observant of individuals who walk through the building and making note of any policy violations or safety issues and reporting those to the appropriate party (e.g. Resident Assistant, Professional Staff on Duty, etc.) Maintaining confidentiality of student information that is available to you and not sharing information with anyone aside from Residential Life Professional Staff and who they deem or authorized to have the information. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Live in residence halls Meet criteria for a student employee

Must maintain a Minimum overall 2.0 GPA. Failure to maintain this cumulative GPA will result in loss of your position. Failure to achieve a semester grade point average of 2.0 or better for DAs will result in probation or termination. Enrolled full time for the duration of employment Degree seeking May need to qualify for Federal Work Study

Ability to work late nights and weekends as needed Strong customer service and administrative skills. Must be ready to begin training as assigned - Housing and Residence Life will communicate return dates and times. (Please note that this position does not provide free housing)
