Communications Specialist

Do you have a passion for public communication, marketing, and community engagement? The City of Jersey Village is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our team and help share our story with residents, businesses, and the public. What You'll Do:

As our Communications Specialist, you'll play a key role in shaping how the City communicates. You will: Manage and support city-wide communication initiatives, including public safety and emergency messaging. Oversee and update the City's website, social media channels, newsletters, and other outreach platforms. Write and design engaging content such as press releases, brochures, ads, and community magazine articles. Serve as a liaison between departments, residents, City Council, and news media. Coordinate community outreach events and marketing campaigns. Provide creative input on communication strategies and improvements. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field. At least two (2) years of experience in communications, preferably with a local government or public sector organization. Strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills. Knowledge of public relations, marketing, and community outreach principles. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Proficiency with digital tools, social media management, and website content systems.
