Principal PCB Design Engineer

How You'll help us connect the world:
The RUCKUS Hardware Team is seeking an experienced engineer with expertise in high-speed, mixed-signal PCB layout design to join our dedicated R&D team in Sunnyvale, California.
Responsibilities:
- Lead layout designs and reviews of high-speed, mixed-signal Wi-Fi Access Point.
- Establish PCB stack-up and impedance geometries.
- Coordinate with and apply best practices for SI, PI, DFM, DFT, DFA, EMI, and mechanicals with cross-functional teams and factories.
- Create Allegro footprints and OrCAD symbols.
- Own schematic designs for antennas and accessories.
- Complete milestones from study to final placements, constraints, DRC management, routing, and post-processes while handling dynamic updates from EE, RF, antenna, ME, and manufacturing teams.
- Apply methodologies for re-using existing internal and external evaluation designs.
- Generate PCB files and documents such as Gerbers, ODB++, fab drawings, and assembly drawings.
- Manage PCB fabrication inquiries, RFQs, EQs, FAIs, and ECOs.
- Review and support outsourced projects.
- Support compliance and other groups as necessary.
- Sustain legacy products and qualify alternative PCB fab houses.
Required qualifications:
- BSEE with 10+ years of relevant experience in high-speed digital and wireless PCB design.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, 10G Ethernet, DDR4, SPI, USB, RF, and antenna design.
- Proficiency in Cadence Allegro 17.2 and 17.4 for PCB layout, libraries, and constraint management; capable of leading entire designs from scratch to product.
- Strong skills in Cadence OrCAD, collaborating with board and antenna designers to create and modify schematics.
- Excellent knowledge of SI, PI, EMI considerations for high-speed PCB designs.
- Experience with DC/DC switching power supply PCB design; PoE experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and other electronic standards.
- Deep understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of design rules and tools related to DFM, DFT, and DFA.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work with overseas fab houses, JDM partners, and international teams.
- Team player capable of thriving in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Our salary ranges consider factors such as benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, experience, education, location, and business needs. The expected total compensation for this position is $135,600.00 - $180,000.00, depending on experience.
Our benefits include medical, dental, vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Starting employees are eligible for eleven paid holidays, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated), and other leave options.
