Director of Quality – Western Precision Products (WPP)

Western Precision Products (WPP) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Manager to lead our quality team in Tualatin, Oregon. We are a high-precision CNC machining company serving leading aerospace and technology customers. Position Overview:

The Director of Quality is responsible for the oversight, execution, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) , ensuring compliance with AS9100D / ISO 9001 and alignment with industry best practices . This role will drive quality excellence throughout the organization, incorporating the latest metrology tools , CMM technologies , and data-driven quality strategies .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, improve, and enforce WPP’s QMS , aligning with AS9100D and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Lead and conduct internal, external, and customer audits .
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements , contract reviews, and process documentation.
  • Implement and manage First Article Inspections (FAIRs) and PPAPs (including submissions and approvals).
  • Use data analysis tools and CMM inspection results to support failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) responses.
  • Oversee and develop metrology programs using Zeiss CMMs , calibration systems , and other high-precision inspection equipment.
  • Evaluate and apply quality trends , such as zero-defect strategies , real-time data collection , and statistical process control (SPC) .
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, engineering, planning, and customer service) to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support and develop ongoing training programs to build a culture of quality and ensure team competency in inspection techniques, blueprint reading , and measurement tools .
  • Champion a proactive quality culture through continuous improvement initiatives, quality KPIs, and employee engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in quality management, ideally within aerospace or high-precision CNC manufacturing .
  • Deep knowledge of AS9100D / ISO9001 standards and implementation.
  • Strong background in metrology , including CMM programming/operation (e.g., Zeiss Calypso) and dimensional inspection techniques.
  • Experience leading audits and managing FAIRs/PPAPs.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (ProShop ERP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma , or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
