This position is located in Grand Rapids and is 100% in person.
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading NCROC's strategic direction and providing administrative leadership to achieve operational excellence and financial sustainability. The role involves infrastructure leadership, aligning physical resources with the Center's strategic mission. The Director works closely with faculty, supervisors, administrators, researchers, and staff. Responsibilities include oversight of capital improvements, maintenance, and space planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operations and Administrative Management (35%)
Analyze programmatic needs, develop implementation plans, coordinate Advisory Committee meetings, develop policies related to fiscal management, grants, HR, communications, and safety. Lead strategic planning for research, education, outreach, manage communications, oversee land management compliance, promote collaboration, represent ROC externally, provide reports, and train supervisors. - Facility Oversight and Coordination (25%)
Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, manage daily operations, oversee facilities staff, supervise infrastructure tasks, and oversee project timelines and budgets. - Facility Project Management (20%)
Provide strategic leadership for facility projects, oversee renewal and maintenance projects, and align infrastructure investments with organizational goals. - Fiscal Management (10%)
Oversee payroll, budgets, financial planning, expenditure decisions, and revenue management to ensure compliance and fiscal responsibility. - Staff Management (10%)
Foster collaboration, ensure a positive work environment, manage personnel processes, oversee hiring, safety, and serve as EEO/AA Officer.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to manage operations, budgets, personnel, and strategic initiatives.
- Experience in supervisory roles and leading interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced or terminal degree with at least 6 years of experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites.
- Experience in agricultural research, land stewardship, or research administration.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects.
- Familiarity with University of Minnesota systems or similar.
- Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
